By Muslim Youth, For Muslim Youth
Our Story
Salam Central was founded in 2021 by a group of Muslim high school students in Surrey who wanted to create a space where young Muslims feel seen, supported, and empowered. What started as a small grassroots initiative has grown into a registered non-profit led by eight university students.
In response to rising Islamophobia and xenophobia, we recognized the need for safe, welcoming spaces where Muslim youth can confidently embrace their faith and identity without fear or pressure to conform. Salam Central exists to provide that space.
We build community through accessible, youth-centered programs that bring people together. Our events include Iftar gatherings, game nights, discussion circles, and sports tournaments, all designed to foster belonging, joy, and leadership. We also run annual summer day camps for Muslim children, helping nurture strong identity and meaningful friendships from an early age.
At our core, Salam Central is about faith, togetherness, and youth-led change.
